Mission/Objectives

The mission of the Teaching Behavior Analysis SIG is to improve the teaching and learning of the principles and applications of behavior analysis in any setting where those activities occur. Those settings include formal classrooms; agencies and organizations that design behavioral interventions for children, adults, and animals; business concerns that provide performance management training for their personnel or consultees; and homes where the main concerns are caring and effective child-raising, supportive family relationships, and enjoyable, well-mannered pets.

Description of Membership

At present there is not a membership roster for the SIG and therefore no good source to turn to for a description of the membership. The closest we come to a list of members is the list of subscribers to our listserv, TBA-L.  As of this date, there are 254 subscribers. Nearly half the e-mail addresses contain ".edu," suggesting that these members are college/university faculty members. We're sure that many of those with without this designator are also faculty members.

Recurring Annual Events

Publications/Newsletters

As mentioned above, we have an e-mail discussion forum, TBA-L. To subscribe, send an email to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.UHD.EDU. The subject line may be left blank, and the following text should appear in the BODY of the e-mail (substituting your name, of course): subscribe TBA-L Firstname Lastname.

Specifically of Interest to Behavior Analysts

All behavior analysts should be interested in this SIG because our aim is to improve learning and teaching in our field. Also, we maintain that the teaching of behavior analysis is something that all behavior analysts do, whether it's in a formal classroom or elsewhere. For this reason, we think the TBA SIG is perhaps the only one of ABA International's SIGs that every ABA International member should join.
