Mission/Objectives

In response to the growing number of parents who are seeking information from the Association for Behavior Analysis International, we created the Parent-Professional Partnership SIG in 2000. This SIG was intended to serve both parents of children with autism and related disabilities and interested professionals. While the Autism SIG has a long and successful history of providing a forum for professional discussion and networking, the Parent-Professional Partnership SIG has attempted to address the specific needs and concerns of parents, particularly parents who attend the annual ABA convention.

Description of Membership

The PPP SIG is comprised of both parents and other family members, as well as professionals interested in parent-professional collaboration.

Annual or Recurring Events

The PPP SIG holds an annual business meeting and participates in the ABA Expo during the ABA convention.

Newsletters/Publications

Most of our members are also members of the Autism SIG and have signed on to receive the quarterly Autism SIG newsletter. The PPP SIG does not have any immediate plans to offer a newsletter; however, the SIG has launched a Web site, www.pppsig.org.

Specifically of Interest to Behavior Analysts

Behavior analysts working with individuals with special needs have long recognized the significance and utility of parent-professional collaboration. Furthermore, the PPP SIG appreciates the powerful role that parents have played in making applied behavior analysis both more visible and more accessible.
