Mission/Objectives
Working draft: The mission of the Evidence-based Practice SIG is to promote socially important behavior by facilitating "research to practice" in "real-world" settings.
Description of Membership
All members of ABA International are eligible for membership.
Annual or Recurring Events
The Evidence-Based Practice SIG holds an annual meeting during the ABA convention.
Specifically of Interest to Behavior Analysts
The SIG is important to members of ABA because the evidence-based practice movement is spreading across many disciplines in which behavior analysts are working. In many of those disciplines, the standards of evidence by which interventions are judged relegate single subject research to a lesser status. If behavioral interventions are to receive their proper recognition, then it is important that single subject designs are represented in the standards of evidence. Equally important is that behavior analysts consider other types of research methods to answer different types of questions that are part of the evidence-based practice movement. One of the primary functions of this SIG is to increase the discussion around these topics.
