Mission/Objectives
MassABA assists and supports the professional development and interests of its members within the commonwealth. The association supports consumers of behavioral services by offering professional development to behavior analysts designed to help them maintain the highest degree of ethical behavior and encourage implementation of evidence based practices. The board of directors is also highly active, working with various state entities to support the expansion of behavioral services to all service areas. Overall, the association is raising the profile of behavior analysis in the state and advocating for increased professional involvement in all human services areas.
Description of Membership
The membership is primarily populated by BCBAs serving adults and children with developmental disabilities, autism, and brain injury. MassABA also seeks to increase participation from special education teachers, independent consultants, parents, hospital workers, rehabilitation specialists, and university professors.
Annual or Recurring Events
The MassABA executive board is currently designing a monthly behavior analytic speaker series. This series would allow members to earn BACB continuing education credits on a monthly basis and remain current with the important trends in the field. MassABA is also appointing a task force to examine the feasibility and steps required to sponsor an annual spring conference to be held in eastern Massachusetts.
Newsletters/Publications
The MassABA chapter plans to publish an annual on-line newsletter.
Specifically of Interest to Behavior Analysts
MassABA is a true trade association representing and advocating for the best interests of behavior analysts across the commonwealth. The board of directors is the only membership-elected board representing a broad constiency of behavior analysts. It is the only democratically constituted board in the commonwealth.
