Mission/Objectives
- To function in British Columbia, Canada, as the liaison with, and representative of the Association for Behavior Analysis, ABA International.
- To advance behaviour analysis in the province of British Columbia. BC-ABA’s interests lie in basic science focusing on principles governing human and nonhuman behaviour (i.e., the experimental analysis of behaviour) as well as applied science focusing on application of those principles for improvement of socially important problems (applied behaviour analysis), and disseminating this information to stimulate interest in and correct misunderstandings of behaviour analysis in the general public.
- To work towards the regulation of behaviour analysis practitioners in British Columbia.
Description of Membership
BC-ABA currently has more than 80 members representing practitioners, educators, professors, and students across British Columbia. Membership can occur within one of three categories:
- Full: Completed a university/college program in a related field and employed utilizing behaviour analysis principles for at least one year.
- Student: Registered full-time in a college or university program in a related field.
- Affliate: Do not meet requirements, but interested in supporting BC-ABA
Annual or Recurring Events
We will be sponsoring an annual conference. The first conference is tentatively planned for March 2009.
Publications
We are planning to produce a printed publication by November 2008. The publication will be posted on our website and accessible to members in that format as well.
